About the artist Rikke Kiil

I have never really worked in only one direction. Some things need silence and time, others movement, people and noise. One project may begin through writing, another through clay, travel, a performance or something impossible to explain afterwards.

To separate life and art completely from one another is impossible, I never know where one begins and the other ends. Conversations continue over years, places remain in the body and ideas change shape as life changes around them. Someone asked me for a nail and I've found the solutions to an idea or a poem, that just needed - something, this something.

Some works become exhibitions or collaborations. Others simply continue quietly beneath the surface for a long time before appearing somewhere else.
